Heaven Is A Bonus: Did You Know?

I know you might be thinking about the topic, how can heaven be a BONUS? is it not suppose to be our inheritance as a Christian?

As children of God, He promised it to us, as a matter of fact in the book of Revelation 22:12 it says;

“And behold, I come quickly; and my reward is with me, to give every man according as his work shall be”.

Even in the book of John 14:2 it says;

“In my father’s house are many mansions, if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you.”

So how can what HE has already promised be a Bonus? And if you are thinking that way, you are correct….. Mostly.

Now let’s look at the definition of “Bonus” the literal definition of bonus is “A reward given to a person for good performance”.

At first glance, some might conclude on their already formed mindset “Heaven can definitely not be a bonus” so let me ask you a question which may (may not) open your mind more towards the definition.

          Why are you Christian?

I will like you to take your time to think about it, so you can give a sincere answer because I don’t want us to deceive ourselves. I know we are going to have different answers for this question. For example,

I’m a a Christian because I want to make heaven, I really do not want to suffer here on earth and also suffer in hell so I have to give my life to Jesus because of that. Uhmmm, its really good. But should that be your only perspective?

Some will even say I’m a Christian because HE is going to solve all my problems, HE is going to bless me; well this is also good.

But it shouldn’t be like that because all these are conditions and HE doesn’t deserve conditional love from us.

Let’s imagine a world without the promise of heaven, what if GOD sent his only son (Jesus) to us, to preach to us, Died for us and ascended to heaven, But left out a key ingredient….. No promise of heaven, instead he simply tells you, you have a choice, either live the way I have showed you or don’t; But don’t worry yourself there is nothing after DEATH. Hmmmm so NO HELL and HEAVEN.

What will you do? Would you uphold his commandments when knowing fully well, I won’t get anything in return and I won’t be punished.

Why should I deprive myself of certain things without a reward or punishment at the end?

Now I don’t know about you but I may, in that circumstance decide to just live the way I feel, if I want to lie to save myself, I would do that, if I wanted to steal that wonderful pink jacket I’ve been craving for weeks or steal to pay my school fees, since I don’t have money, I would do it without hesitating. WHY? After death, there is nothing, so why limit “myself” to live like some guy who died thousands of years ago(Jesus).

But should that really be my mindset or possibly yours? Without even bringing in the reality of heaven, we have all been taught that lying is bad, society condemns stealing, jealousy, malice etc, so why should that mindset that I’m doing all thess because I just want to make heaven, most importantly I don’t want to go to hell. Why should there be a difference?

Matthew 6:33:

“But seek ye first the kingdom of God and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you”.

But don’t let heaven be your number one priority….let it be the Love of God and everyone around you. If you love God it’s easier to serve him, obey him and make  heaven.

“Many people seem to think the only reason for Salvation is so that a person will go to heaven when he dies.

Eternal life is part of God’s plan for forgiveness, but not the reason for our salvation. God saved us so that we might reflect his nature. That we might be his people on earth, doing the kind of works that Jesus himself would do if he were walking in our shoes, through our world during our lifetime. He desires to manifest his character through our personalities and giftedness.

When we allow HIS Holy spirit to work in us and through us to others, we become vessels of HIS love in action”.

Going back to our definition and applying the Christian life, you see Jesus could have easily just come into this world, wash away our sins through his death and that would have been all, Nothing added or subtracted, HE didn’t have to promised us heaven, we certainly don’t deserve but God in his infinite love did it, because no matter what we do, no matter what we say, HE is still going to want us close to him, that’s just his Nature and his nature is LOVE.

Romans 5:8 says;

“But God commendeth his love toward us ,in that, while we were yet sinners,Christ died for us”.

We didn’t ask for it, but HE loved us too much to let go. How many of us can truly brag that we love God the same? Or even something resembling the kind of love he has for us.

1john 4:19 says; “we love him because HE first loved us.

But do we honestly love HIM? Do we love our neighbours? Do we love our coworkers, schoolmate? Do we love our nation? Do we love our family members’ and most importantly Do we love GOD?

I thinks it’s easier to love what we can feel, see and touch, but what about GOD? Do you think HE in all his wonder needs your love? Do you believe that you honestly have God? Do you even know what it means to love God or Do you just see him as an ATM machine, where we can take, and keep on taking but never give back?

Now I can’t answer these questions for you but of you are at that point where you are unsure of your love for God, then you would be doing yourself a huge favor and just take a moment to talk to God because Matthew 27:51a says;

“At that moment the curtain of the temple was torn in two from top to bottom”.

You have direct access to God, you just have to believe it.

After all have said, finally I live you with this question?

God Has Not Forgotten

Restlessness might have gotten in you a place,
That your longing soul had offered an embrace,
And you queried if the Messiah has disremembered his promise,
Oh Hear the whispers from the heavenly palace,
I have not forgotten!

Days of disappointments and forlornness,
When you got so anxious of even what was next,
Times when everything seemed to be in conflict, and you cried even for forgiveness,
Dear, Can I shock you?
All the while, I have not forgotten.

I got every bit of your quest and question,
But the hurdles werent meant for your breakdown,
The ropey nights that have made u questioned even your crown,
It was because of you I was laid down,
Even this, I have not forgotten.

My purpose of coming was you,
My reason for being mocked was you,
My focus even on the cross was YOU.
After resurrection, you were still on my mind,
And my person, as an advocate is to help you,
I cannot forget!

So, I am glad let you know,
Seasons of your restlessness are ending,
Days Your longing soul awaits a filling,
That you may know my promise for you is everlasting,
And my kingdom in heaven have I extended on earth for your governing!
Child, you can trust me?

Standing Up For Your Faith

Do you know what it is to stand up for your faith?

Maybe this have been the question in your heart, Is it only to believe what I didn’t see, as Hebrew says?
You may also be a new convert, and you want to know what this “Standing for your faith means.”

Carefully go through this writeup and be bless.
I believe after reading through, the holy spirit will enlighten the eyes of your understanding in Jesus Christ name.

It’s like standing up in the court of law to speak justice,
because you know it’s what needs to be done.

It’s like standing up at a sports game and cheering wildly because you have love for a team.

It’s like standing up full of sin, like the woman who committed adultery, and allowing Jesus to forgive you.

It’s like standing up against all the chatter of opposition to telling it to shut up and sit down.

It’s like when others ask you what you gain from following Christ, and you answered saying “Life”.

It’s like seeing other alternative to the cross and saying “NO”.

It’s like standing up and putting your hands on your hips and saying, “That’s not what God says, so no way.”

It’s like standing up and speaking out God’s truths over the ample lies that surround you on the daily basis.

It’s like standing up and fighting, through prayer, for a sister going through a killer-of-a-hard time.

It’s like standing up and saying, “No, I will not lay down.” It’s standing on the solid rock of Christ.

It’s knowing that that very rock is unmovable, unbreakable and unwavering.

It’s deciding in your heart that since Jesus was strong enough to bust out of the grave, He will be able to take you right out of your dark circumstances to move you into His light. This is standing strong.

This is the hope of those that believe in HIM, ” Though we are dying in our flesh yet we are alive in the spirit, though we go hungry ,yet we are fed. Though we are poor, but yet we are rich in Christ Jesus .

He Loves Me More Than I Thought

God, I can’t even trust myself sometimes, how can you trust me?

I see:
My faults

My forgetfulness

My ability to be deceived in the smallest way

My pride that so often fools me.

“God, do you really love me? How much?” Do you love me when I forget you? Do you love me when I yell at my family when my parents frustrate me? Do you love me when I go the wrong way? Accidentally hurt you? God, do you really love me?”

As if God answered my very prayers back then, these questions came to mind… Olanrewaju, how could you have experienced so much freedom (release of fear, anxiety, worry), aside from my love?

(What freedom has God brought you within the space of his love? Olanrewaju, how could I call you and not want you?
(In what ways has God called you to do things, only He could?)

Olanrewaju, how could I not love you after sending my son to suffer and die for you, as He did? (In what ways does Jesus suffering cast new light on God’s love
for you?)

Olanrewaju, how could I abandon myself in you? (How would God abandon his own Spirit within you? Sounds impossible.)

God loves me. He loves you.
Even when life breaks down or people do.
Even when fears tumult all around or uncertainties do
Even when answers to questions do not abound and problems still exist.

Even then, His love still works. It pursues. It remains. It saves. It quiets rambunctious hearts. It sings over us. It
moves on our behalf.

“The LORD your God is in your midst… a mighty one who will save you.  He will rejoice over you with gladness… He will quiet you by his love; he will exult over you with loud singing (Zephaniah 3:17).”

What we have, the lengths, heights and depths of His love, cannot be stolen, removed or relinquished.

“No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us. For I am sure that neither death nor life nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord (Ro. 8:37-39).”

Jesus Loves you right?
